Located in the basement of Ambar in Clarendon, Baba is a retro-chic hangout for Balkan-inspired eats, functioning as a coffee shop by day and a cocktail bar by night. Start your weekend off right with Baba’s “Fun Brunching” deal, which is an unlimited brunch buffet for $34 per person. The spread includes a variety of oatmeal bowls, pastries, and sandwiches along with special made-to-order dishes, such as the Smoked Salmon Crepes, Balkan Eggs, and Veggie Omelet. Coffee, tea, iced tea, and orange juice are included, and session cocktails are only an extra $1 each. On weekday evenings, check out their Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for $6 cocktails and a variety of $5 small bites, such as Prosciutto Croquettes and Pork Belly Sliders.
The 56-seat space has plush seating and upscale touches blended with rustic design elements, such as exposed brick, vintage molding, and salvaged wood. One wall and part of the ceiling are clad in mismatched old windows along with a gas fireplace with antique mirrors adorning the mantel. Baba packs a punch with its charming ambiance, vibrant drinks, and tasty fare.
