Did you hear, The Palatine? Late last month, Frank Beamer announced that the 2015 season will be his last. The 69-year-old head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies, who's been with the college football team for close to three decades and is an alumnus of Virgina Tech, will retire in 2016 as the "winningest active coach in FBS."
"I will be forever grateful to everyone who made these past three decades the best years of my life," Beamer said in a statement. "It's an emotional day for me and my family. I am so honored and humbled to have served as your head coach."
According to an ESPN article, Beamer is planning to hand his torch to an existing member of the Hokies coaching staff.
